The Betting and Gaming Council (BGC) has issued a response following the release of the CMS Select Committee report， highlighting various elements including the rejection of proposals for a widespread ban on gambling advertising， sports sponsorship and consumer promotions.

According to the BGC， such a blanket ban could adversely affect popular sports like horseracing and football， lead to job losses and potentially drive customers toward unregulated online gambling markets; these are all classic arguments that the BGC has put forward in the past.

The BGC mentions that past research hasn't firmly established a direct link between exposure to gambling advertisements and the development of gambling-related issues.

The BGC advocated for strict adherence to guidelines ensuring gambling advertisements and sponsorships comply with safer gambling messaging， actively promoting responsible gambling tools and directing help to those concerned about their betting habits.

The Council commended the Committee's endorsement of the Sport Sponsorship Code， mentioning that its publication without delay would further elevate industry standards.

The response follows the BGC's prior endorsement of the UK Government's proposed 1% gambling levy on online gambling companies.
